Protect your caregivers without harming the care relationship
Agitated patients, families at breaking point, emergency rooms under pressure : hospital staff face rising violence in a place that can never barricade itself. The ResponsAbility method adapts de-escalation and team protection to the real constraints of care.

A place that can never close its doors
An emergency department, a weeknight. A queue that keeps growing, a relative at the end of their patience, a team already under strain. The hospital is the only public place that combines a duty of unconditional admission with constant exposure to distress : there’s no way to screen who comes in, and the standard playbook for public safety doesn’t simply transfer as-is.
In France, reported assaults on people in hospital settings exceed 19,000 cases every year (ONVS, 2020-2021), and France is far from alone : the phenomenon affects healthcare systems across Europe. Psychiatric units, long-term care, and emergency departments account for a disproportionate share of incidents.
Training built for care, not a generic module
The ResponsAbility method adapts its principles of de-escalation and impact-free intermediate force to the specific constraints of hospitals : agitated patients, families at breaking point, emergency care, psychiatry, geriatrics. The goal : protect care teams without ever harming the care relationship, while respecting patient dignity.
In practice, this means modules built for the hospital context — de-escalation with a patient in distress or a relative in shock, staying composed under an emotional load few other professions ever face — rather than a generic conflict-management course applied as-is to care settings.
Missions delivered under real conditions
2019, training delivered for Sardinia’s largest emergency department (AOU Sassari) - 60 participants.
2024, training delivered for Microcitemico Hospital in Cagliari - 60 participants.
2025, training delivered for Castres-Mazamet Hospital - 40 participants.
In April 2025, an accredited training programme was delivered across three hospitals of ASL 5 in Sardinia (Oristano, Bosa, Ghilarza) : 150 professionals trained in 4 months, on managing aggressive behaviour in hospital settings. See the report on this mission.
Then, 180 more in 2026…
And another 180 planned for 2027!
